Carefully molding students into first-class citizens and future leaders is the top priority of Waxahachie educators.  The Education Committee of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce works closely with the Waxahachie Independent School District on the Partners in Educations (PIE) program, which includes job shadowing, DEAR Day, and College for Texans.

Waxahachie has numerous options for families looking for a private or parochial education alternative, supplemental tutoring, or higher education opportunities.

ELEMENTARY, SECONDARY SCHOOLS, & SUPPLEMENTAL TUTORING

AMP Math Tutoring: Offering math tutoring and mentoring by a certified math teacher. Shalyn Cofield is a certified math teacher for the state of Texas and has extensive knowledge of the state curriculum (TAKS). As well as tutoring experience, she has taught in a middle school and high school classroom. With many things, this has given her experience in working with parents, students, and other teachers. Ovilla Christian School:  Ovilla Christian School is a K4-12th grade school with a student body of approximately 500. OCS is accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS). Elementary students, participate in various enrichment classes including Music, Art, and Physical Education.  In High School, students are offered 21 hours of dual credit courses for college. Waxahachie Preparatory Academy:  A private, parent-based Christian school whose purpose is to provide it’s students with a comprehensive, college preparatory education from a Christian perspective for kindergarten through 12th grade.  Located at 621 N. HIGHER EDUCATION FACILITIES

Navarro College - Ellis County Center: Offers a wide range of college level courses for students seeking associate degrees in various fields of study.  Course offerings include evening, weekend, eight-week classes, mini-mester sessions, and a full array of internet courses. 

Enrollment is ideal for those pursuing a degree or a certificate, high school/college dual-credit, workforce training for employees, or continuing education courses.

The college is continually growing and transforming to accommodate and serve current and future students.  With this growth in mind, Navarro College has begun construction on a new 25,000 sqaure foot, two-story higher education facility in nearby Midlothian to open for business in the spring of 2006.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University: This four-year institution, established in Waxahachie in 1943, allows students to learn about Bible and church studies, as well as providing professional studies.  Its main campus is located in Waxahachie on 70 acres, and a second campus (five miles away) includes additional student housing, classrooms, and offices. 

The enrollment includes undergraduates on campus, distance education undergraduates, graduate school on-campus, and distance education graduate students.  Many sports opportunities are offered, including football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, and intramural sports.

University of North Texas Dallas Campus: The campus in nearby DeSoto has been enrolling students for graduate and undergraduate classes and degree programs in southern Dallas since January 2000.

The purpose of the University of North Texas Dallas Campus is to increase the number of citizens in Dallas and Ellis counties who hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees; and implement programs and partnerships that will help to increase the high school and college-going rates in these areas.
