Ellis County Courthouse is one of the most well known local landmarks. Waxahachie is the county seat of Ellis County and the courthouse is still in use today for county government offices and activities. Restoration of the courthouse is currently underway. The roof and upper portions have been restored and work is progressing on the lower levels and inside. |
| The Chautauqua Auditorium located in Getzendaner Park is another of the historic buildings located here. Built in 1902, it is still in use as a public auditorium. |  |

| Wilemon Elementary School served as the High School here for many years before a new High School was constructed around 1970. |  |

| Southwestern Assemblies of God University is located in historic buildings once occupied by Trinity University, and an example of the Jacobean Revival architectural style. |  |
