What is an Ambassador?

The Waxahachie Chamber Ambassadors is a group of local citizens that want to make a difference in how other people see the City of Waxahachie and the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce.  In fact, they are the official representatives, volunteer force, and membership sales arm of the chamber.  They are all volunteers- none are paid for what they do with the group.


What is the Commitment to be an Ambassador?

 

1) Pay Your Annual Membership Dues of $20.00

 

2) Earn a Minimum of 50 Points and Complete the Following Tasks to Remain on Active Status:

a) Attend Monthly Ambassador Luncheons, no fewer than 10 a year. 

4th Wednesday of every month, 12 Noon at the Chamber of Commerce

Time Commitment: 1 hour per month.

Points Received: 2 points/ per luncheon

b) Attend ribbon cutting ceremonies as scheduled, no fewer than 10 a year. 

Schedule: Tues/Wed/Thurs at 10:30 am or 4:30 pm.  2 weeks notice will be given.

Time Commitment: 30 minutes per ribbon cutting = 5 hours per year.

Points Received: 2 points/ per ceremony

c) Recruit New Members, no fewer than 3 new members a year.

2006 Schedule: 2006 Membership Drive will be held.  Date and Time TBA.

Time Commitment: Varies.

Points Received: 5 points/ per new member

d) Visit current members, no fewer than 15 visits a year.

Time Commitment: 3 hours a year.

Points Received: 3 points/ per visit.

e) Mentor assigned new members throughout the year.

Time Commitment: Varies.  Visit, write or call assigned members at least 3 times a year. 

Points Received: 2 points/ per mentor activity.

f) Volunteer and/or attend any other Chamber functions when possible and act as a representative of the Chamber (i.e. greet members, answer questions, introduce them to other members, etc.)

Points Received: Points will vary depending on time commitment.  Bonus points will be given throughout the year to Ambassadors who respond the quickest or complete certain tasks first.

Is there an Ambassador Uniform?

Yes, Waxahachie Chamber Ambassadors wear a black sash around their necks, silver name badge, and any award pins to Chamber events whenever possible.


When are the monthly Ambassador luncheons? 

The Waxahachie Chamber Ambassadors meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 12 Noon in the Chamber Conference Room.  Lunch is catered by member restaurants and costs $10 per person for each luncheon. 


What is the Financial Commitment to be an Ambassador?

 

Annual dues- $20.00

Membership Luncheons- $10/ per luncheon

Annual awards banquet ticket- optional


What does it mean to be an Ambassador?

 

  • Ambassadors are people of action; they get things done in their community
  • Becoming an ambassador means being willing to work together under whatever rules or by-laws govern your group.
  • Being an active ambassador will require interest, commitment, flexibility, work, and some finances.
  • Ambassadors are the membership sales arm of the Chamber 
  • Being an Ambassador is a lot of fun!

How do Ambassadors Earn Points?

 

  • Attend monthly Ambassador Luncheons = 2 points/ per luncheon 
  • Attend ribbon cutting ceremonies = 2 points/ per ceremony
  • Recruit new members = 5 points/  per new member 
  • Visit current members = 3 points/ per visit. Mentor assigned new members = 2 points/ per mentor activity 
  • Volunteer and/or attend any other Chamber function s= Points vary 
  • Bonus Points = Bonus points are given throughout the year to Ambassadors who respond the quickest to a request or complete certain tasks first. 

Who Keeps Track of Each Ambassador’s Points?

 

Each Ambassador keeps track of his/her own points by using a point card they can conveniently keep in their wallet or purse.  Point cards are turned in at each monthly luncheon and points attallied and recorded by an appointed Ambassador.  Awards and pins are then given to those Ambassadors who have completed tasks or who have earned the most points for that month.


What are the Levels of Ambassador Membership?

 

Active member- annual dues are paid and the Ambassador has completed annual commitments or is on target to complete annual commitments

 

Inactive member- annual dues are 90 days delinquent and/or the Ambassador failed to completeannual commitments.  Inactive members can be restored to active status once membership dues have been paid and/or they complete annual commitments.

 

Life member- a person who is bestowed a life membership in the Waxahachie Chamber Ambassadors through a majority vote of the Ambassadors and therefore does not have to pay annual membership dues or meet annual commitments, but receives all the rights and privileges of a regular active Ambassador.  Life membership is reserved for extremely well qualified individuals, who have shown a commitment to the Ambassadors that is above and beyond the call of duty for a substantial amount of time.
