ABOUT THE CHAMBER
Program of Work: Beautification
Keep Waxahachie Beautiful is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that participates
and organizes: reduce, reuse, recycle, adopt-a-highway, youth awareness programs, renovation of historical districts, Residential Yard of the Month program, Business and Industry Yard of the Month program, and the annual Christmas lighting contest. The mission of Keep Waxahachie Beautiful is to preserve the natural beauty and protect the environment, making the city of Waxahachie and the state of Texas a better place to live.
Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement organization, named Keep Waxahachie Beautiful as a Silver Star Affiliate at their annual meeting in Plano in June 2006. KWB is one of more than 340 towns, cities, and counties in KTB’s statewide network that take responsibility to care for the community environment. To achieve this status, affiliates are required to share information on their mission and goals, answer questions about their public education programs and partnerships, and submit an application for a Keep Texas Beautiful or Governor’s Community Achievement Award.
Keep Waxahachie Beautiful partners with Keep Texas Beautiful during the annual Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off each April. It is the single largest one day cleanup event
in the state where nearly 200,000 volunteers offer their time to keep the state beautiful. KWB also promotes community beautification by selling thousands of blue bonnets and wild flower seeds each spring.
